THE SCHUMANN PROJECT is an exciting collection of all-new original songs from Fiona MacGillivray (formerly of The Cottars). The inspiration for the project comes by the compositions of Romantic composer Robert Schumann. Performed with a full ensemble of world class musicians, you will be treated to the sounds of the harp, guitar, piano and bass, as well as two beautiful voices in addition to Fiona’s. The style of music will touch on folk, Celtic, jazz and pop stylings, built over Schumann’s original timeless melodies.

One of the most important themes explored in the show will be the subject of mental health. Robert Schumann, who lived in the 19th century, struggled with mental health most of his life and this impacted his work in many ways. These are struggles with which most of us are all too familiar today. One of the highlights of the night will be a spoken word artistic performance on the subject from a very talented Cape Breton actor who writes from first voice experience.
